Took my 81 yr old mother in law and my wife to the cemetery last Sun. to visit late husband's/father's grave site.
As we drove through to find his "section" , my mother in law exclaimed: "It's too crowded here"

MORE MIDDLE AGED MEDICAL MALADIES
Actually, that's gonna be the name of my world- wide comedy tour. DOUG ADLER'S MIDDLE AGED MEDICAL MALADY COMEDY TOUR.
Went to a dermatologist to have some mysterious but benign growth removed from my ear.
Danger sign #1
Dr. was well north of 80 yrs old
Danger sign #2
He was German
Warning Will Robinson #3
Part of the procedure involved searing the flesh of my ear with an electrocautery device.
Smoke was coming off of my ear.
I smelled myself burning.
Leading to this notable MD quote :
Dr. said (with German accent): " At least you will know what you will smell like if you are on fire"

BAD COMEDY ADVICE- PART I
Can't help but be inspired by something uttered by a comic at an open mic before he began his set.
"I DON'T HAVE NONE OF THEM PUNCHLINE JOKES"
Nuff said.

I still have both testicles: A tale of modern medicine
Welcome to my blog. Thought it would be appropriate to begin posting with a very personal medical anecdote.
Woke up some weeks ago with a what felt like a refugee family roasting a goat in my right testicle. The HMO mill doc diagnosed a form of very typical inflammation but referred me to a urologist. Within a day of viewing a sonogram of said teste, he informed my that I had cancer and must have the bad boy removed immediately.
That's not fun.
Went for a second opinion - this doc described doug's suspicious mass (the name of my new punk/alternative band) as a "speck" and advised doing nothing and looking again in 6 weeks. Todays sonogram showed nothing (except a testicle).
No cancer.
No suspicious mass.
Did the first Dr. want my testicle for personal reasons?
Did he have a recipe requiring my testicle ?
Did he have an overwhelming need for $ and was thus willing to perform unnecessary surgery?
Was he just overly cautious?
I have tried incorporating this into my stand up.
I'm not so good with the dark stuff.
Jewish mother-in- law stuff to follow.
